How to Store Room Spray: Light, Heat and Bottle Care
Share
Store room spray upright in its original bottle, with the sprayer secure, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat. Follow the bottle’s directions and keep it out of children’s reach. A good storage spot makes the bottle easy for you to use without leaving it exposed on a windowsill, beside a stove or in a parked car.
At Le Maire Co., we hand mix and package our room sprays in small batches at our Tennessee home studio. Every aroma belongs to our village of characters. Looking after the bottle is part of enjoying that character—from the bright green direction of Le Bouquet to the warm woods of Buttery Breeze.
Where should you keep room spray?
Choose a stable indoor shelf or cupboard away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the bottle upright and leave enough room around it that you can pick it up without knocking other glass containers over. Make sure the location is inaccessible to children and pets.
The Le Bouquet safety data sheet, Section 7, specifies tightly closed storage in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Check the instructions for your particular spray; a shared bottle style does not mean every product has identical directions.
Choose shade over a sunny display
A bottle can look good on a windowsill while sitting in direct sun for hours. Keep your everyday spray somewhere shaded instead. Avoid shelves immediately above radiators, near cooking appliances or beside a burning candle. Le Bouquet’s safety sheet also directs users to keep it away from heat, flames and sparks.
Be selective about bathroom storage
A bathroom may be where you use room spray, but the shower ledge is a poor place to leave a glass bottle. Choose a dry, stable location away from splashing water and heat. If the room cannot offer that, keep the bottle in a suitable cupboard elsewhere and bring it in when needed.
Keep the original bottle and label
Leave room spray in its labeled container so its identity, instructions and precautions stay together. Do not transfer it into a drinking bottle or an unmarked sprayer. Keep the sprayer fitted securely and replace any protective cap supplied after use.
Before putting the bottle away, check for moisture around the neck or base. If it leaks, stop using it and contact us with the product name and a photo of the problem. Do not keep a leaking bottle on finished wood, fabric or another surface that could be damaged.
Do not adjust the formula at home
If a bottle seems different, adding water, alcohol, essential oil or another room spray is not a storage fix. Keep the product as supplied. Follow any shaking instructions printed on its label, and ask us about an unexpected change before continuing to use it.
Likewise, do not assume refrigeration or freezing is required. Follow product-specific storage directions instead of treating room spray like food. For Le Bouquet, the published instruction is cool, dry storage—not a specified refrigerator temperature.
How long does room spray last in storage?
There is no single shelf-life promise we can give for every room spray. Check your bottle for a date or product-specific guidance. If that information is missing, contact us with the character name and purchase date rather than relying on a generic expiration estimate.
A change in appearance, aroma or spray performance is a reason to ask questions. It does not, by itself, identify the cause. Share what changed, how the bottle was stored and whether the closure has leaked so we can help with the specific product.
Build a small lineup you will actually use
Choose a few distinct characters and keep them clearly labeled. These four Le Maire room sprays are listed in 4 oz glass bottles:
- Le Bouquet lemongrass and Baja cactus room spray brings a bright, citrus-green direction.
- Bean’s Begone cucumber, melon and peach room spray offers crisp fruit with a softly sweet finish.
- Burnt Skies sea salt and plum room spray pairs mineral freshness with amber and mahogany teakwood.
- Buttery Breeze sandalwood and cashmere room spray brings smooth woods and creamy cocoa butter warmth.
If the Baja direction is your favorite, meet Mr. Baja Cactus candle, wax melt and car air freshener. Its desert florals, driftwood and coconut water offer another character to explore. These are separate products with their own instructions; room spray should not be poured into a wax warmer or used to refill a car air freshener.
A simple routine after every use
- Check that the bottle and sprayer are intact and dry on the outside.
- Secure the closure and replace the protective cap, if supplied.
- Return the bottle upright to its shaded storage spot.
- Keep the label readable and the bottle out of children’s reach.
